It is the responsibility of the permit holder to arrange access to the premises with the property owner in order for DBS to perform the inspection. Failure to be ready for inspection, failure to provide adequate directions, and/or failure to provide access for the inspector may result in additional fees per the Idaho Procedure Act .

The Building and Safety Division ensures the safe occupancy of buildings by verifying construction compliance with regulated building and fire codes, and construction that is built in accordance with approved planning entitlements. Safety of building occupancy, compliance with entitlements through the public process, and customer service are the main focuses of the Division. Building and Safety operations include public counter permitting operations, plan review and building inspection. The Division is consistent with the City’s environmentally-friendly and sustainable goals with its enforcement of energy and water conservation regulations, green building compliance and its paperless Electronic Plan Review system.
With these changes, the City anticipates faster permit issuance, quicker staff response times, improved communication, and better visibility to the forms for community members online in the Citizen Access system. Overall the time saved from these process changes will increase the City’s ability to service customers.
